Dimapur, Nagaland – 28 August 2023: In a touching and significant event, the book titled “Miracle of Grace: Life and Mission of Bishop Robert Kerketta SDB, DD” was released on August 28, 2023 as a Salesian Centenary Publications. The book, authored by Fr Nazarius Lakra SDB, Vice Provincial of the Dimapur Province, is a poignant tribute to the remarkable journey of Bishop Robert Kerketta, whose life and mission have left an indelible mark on the religious landscape of Northeast India.
The release of the book took place during a dinner event, graced by the presence of Fr Jose Kuruvachira SDB, the Provincial of the Dimapur Province. Among the esteemed guests was Fr KA Thomas, the founder father of I-Card, Jorhat. Fr Jose Kuruvachira SDB unveiled the book and presented the first copy to Fr KA Thomas, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the field.
Addressing the audience, Fr Jose Kuruvachira SDB emphasized the significance of the book, noting that there has been a dearth of literature chronicling the life and achievements of the late Bishop Robert Kerketta SDB. He commended Fr Nazarius Lakra’s dedication and personal connection with the bishop, which inspired him to undertake the task of chronicling Bishop Robert’s journey.
The evening was marked by a few words Fr Nazarius Lakra, who shared his motivations for writing the book and thanked everyone. Having shared a close association with Bishop Robert, Fr Nazarius embarked on this writing journey to honour the legacy of a remarkable individual who dedicated his life to serving others.
As a token of appreciation for their contributions to the Church and the literary world, the event saw the presentation of the second copy of the book to Fr CD Mathai, a prolific writer and author of numerous books. Fr K A Thomas, in a touching gesture, presented a copy of the book to Fr Jose Kuruvachira SDB, completing the circle of gratitude.
The book, “Miracle of Grace,” delves into the life and mission of Bishop Robert Kerketta SDB, highlighting his trailblazing efforts in establishing mission centers, educational institutions, and religious congregations in the region.
