Dimapur, 29 June 2023: Fr Jose Palely SDB has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to him on this significant achievement. Fr Palely, a native of Kerala, was born on 8 August 1961. He made his first profession in the Salesian Congregation on 24 May 1981 at Sunnyside, Shillong, and was ordained on 28 December 1989. He belongs to the Salesian Province of Dimapur and has served in various capacities within the province.
Fr Palely’s dedication and commitment have been evident throughout his diverse assignments. He has made valuable contributions to different communities and institutions under the Salesian umbrella. Notable roles include serving as the Assistant Headmaster at Dimapur – Don Bosco Community from 1990 to 1992 and as the Vice Principal at Tamenglong – Don Bosco Community from 1994 to 1995.
His involvement extended to Maram – School, where he served as the Assistant Headmaster from 1995 to 1996, and later as the Warden at Imphal – Ravalico College Hostel from 1996 to 1997. From 1997 to 2000, Fr Palely assumed the position of In-Charge at Imphal – Langjing, making a positive impact on the community.
Fr Palely’s leadership abilities were recognized as he served as the Principal at Maram – Don Bosco College from 2000 to 2009. Subsequently, he served as the Economer of the Dimapur Province from 2009 to 2015. He also served in Don Bosco College, Golaghat, as its principal from 2015 to 2021. Most recently, he served as the Principal of Doom Dooma community from 2022 to 2023.
Now, Fr Jose Palely takes on the prestigious role of Pro-Vice Chancellor of Assam Don Bosco University. His appointment as the Vice Chancellor marks an exciting new chapter in his esteemed career, and we wish him all the best as he leads the university with vision and dedication.
