Itanagar, 9 July 2023: The grand opening ceremony of the 5th Junior Boys National Boxing Championship 2023 commenced today at Don Bosco College Jollang in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Shri Pema Khandu, the Hon’ble Chief Minister; Shri Mama Natung, the Hon’ble Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs; Shri Taba Tedir, the Hon’ble Minister of Education; Shri Hemanta Kumar Kalita, Secretary General of the Boxing Federation of India, along with other dignitaries, participants, coaches, and invitees.
The Championship, organized by the Boxing Federation of India, is on in Don Bosco College, Itanagar from 9th to 14th July 2023. The Arunachal Pradesh Boxing Federation, with co-hosting support from Don Bosco College Itanagar, has been entrusted with the responsibility of hosting this prestigious event.
A total of 367 boxers from various states and union territories are participating in the Championship. These talented young athletes will compete in different weight categories, ranging from 46 to 80+ kilograms. The tournament promises to showcase the immense potential and skill of these budding boxers from all corners of the country.
Don Bosco College Itanagar has made extensive preparations to ensure a seamless and successful Championship. The college, known for its state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure, has become a preferred venue for both state and national-level events.
